Most of us in our lifetime would have used or certainly seen a parent / grandparent using WD-40 in their workshop and / or around the home. WHAT DOES WD-40® STAND FOR?
WD-40 literally stand for Water Displacement 40th Formula. That’s the name straight out of the lab book used by the chemist who developed the product back in 1953. The chemist, Norm Larsen, was attempting to concoct a formula to prevent corrosion – a task which is done by displacing water… which was achieved on his 40th try!

WHAT DOES THE WD-40 MULTI-USE PRODUCT CONTAIN?
The ingredients to WD-40 Multi-Use product are held as a strict secret by the manufacturer. But they do say what it does NOT contain. The multi-use product does not contain silicone, kerosene, water, graphite or chlorofluorocarbons.

Yes. Whilst the “W-D” in WD-40 stands for Water Displacement; it is a special blend of lubricants. The formulation also contains ant-corrosion agents and ingredients for penetration, water displacement and soil removal.
